Teriyaki Kohlrabi Slaw

Teriyaki Kohlrabi Slaw

 

(Serves 3)

Ingredients:

  • 1 package medium-firm tofu
  • 2-3 kohlrabi (What is Kohlrabi?)
  • 1 large avocado
  • Trader Joe’s Island Soyaki Sauce
  • Fresh cracked black pepper
  • Sea salt
  • Dill
  • Extra virgin olive oil

 

Preparation:

  1. Prep tofu: In a large frying pan heat olive oil over high heat. Drain and slice tofu into strips, then place into pan. (Should be hot enough you can hear an immediate sizzle.) Cover and cook on med-high heat for 3-5 minutes or until crust on one side. Then flip and turn heat down to medium, cover and cook for another 3-4 minutes. Season with fresh cracked black pepper, ground sea salt and dill.
  2. Grate peeled kohlrabi into a medium bowl. (Use a cheese grater or food processor.)
  3. Layer kohlrabi slaw in the bottom of serving bowls with tofu and thinly lived avocado on top.
  4. Finish by drizzling Trader Joe’s Island Soyaki Sauce on top. (Optional: Add pinch of fresh tracked black pepper on top.)

 

 Tip:

Kohlrabi has a wonderful slightly sweet and spicy flavor profile. Raw, it is crunchy and a watery vegetable, when grated these juices are released to create a natural “slaw” consistency. This is one of our easiest dishes to make on the fly!
